Camera Case Prototype

i want a box to store all my camera gear when i’m not on the road, or even to have in the boot while i’m out walking. The general thought is that all my current gear and a excellent part of new gear will fit in here.

At the moment i’m working with paper to check that my chosen crate will have the space that i’m looking for. i will then try to make the same setup by some padded foam. I’ll also aim to place a foam lid on the top. Depending on the space left in the box on top i’ll aim to have a tray for media, cleaning stuff…. that can be lifted off to access the stuff underneath.

When they were first made they were only made to be used with a P/C
I bought one on craigslist without knowing. Oh Well!

It depends on the Macintosh you are by.

The Samsung SCD23 is a miniDV tape based camcorder.

You need to connect the camcorder’s DV port (not USB) to the computer’s firewire port (not USB) with a firewire cable (not USB). This is for ANY computer – not just Macs.

Most Macs made in the last 10+ being have a firewire port – except the MacBooks made between October 2008 and June 2009 and MacBook Air computers – they have no firewire port and no expansion slot to add one.

Assuming your Mac has a firewire port, we don’t know which firewire cable you need. The DV port on the miniDV camcorder is always 4-pin. The Mac’s firewire port can be either 6-pin or 9-pin… So we don’t know if you need a 4-pin to 6-pin firewire cable or 4-pin to 9-pin firewire cable.

Firewire, IEEE1394, i.LINK and DV are all the same thing.

With the camcorder in “Play” mode, and the firewire cables properly connecting the camcorder to the Mac, launch iMovie and “Import” the video and edit. You do not need the a waste of time software that came in the box – and that software is a waste of time for Windows computers, too…

If you really need to e-mail or upload photos to Facebook right from your camera, the compact Samsung ST80 might be a excellent fit for you. But at $ 250, and despite sharp images, the lack of image stabilization is a huge negative.
