What monitors non apple work with iMacs all in one.?

I want to get a dual screen do my 21″ iMac all-in-one. But I look at the one that apple has an opts way expensive. Are there any that work like Sony, samsung, lg monitors that have hd 1080? That wok with iMacs.
I have the newer version. I just bought it at the store in Jan. Also. By a Sony bravia that has pc port can it work? The iMac will work with any monitor out there, as long as you have the right adapter.

There are two kinds of iMacs out there: Grown-up ones with a miniDVI port, newer ones with a miniDisplayPort.

All you need is the right adapter to connect the miniDVI or miniDisplayPort to DVI, VGA, or HDMI, depending on what connector is on the monitor you want to use.

So check your iMac and see which port you got so you don’t waste money export the incorrect adapter.

You can also use a miniDisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter and a separate HDMI cable too.

I Compared the new LG IPS236V with my ancient TN monitor. (IPS panel became standard with iPhone and iPad) IPS monitor is technically superior to predictable TN monitors in wide viewing angle and color.
