What is a good free ringtone maker/editer for sony ericsson phones?

i have a z500a and i need something to convert music from my library onto my phone as a ringtone. motorola phone tools was excellent for my razr but i need one just as excellent for my sony ericsson.

You cannot directly convert something from onto your phone to a ringtone, if you have an unbranded phone this is possible, but most people have branded phones with restrictions.

A branded phone is one that comes pre-loaded with the carrier [like Cingular] software and there are restrictions on the size and length of the ringtone [600 or 750kb i reckon]

An unbranded phone you can use the full song as a ringtone, but it will start play from the beginning of the song so that’s not so excellent. But the bright side is taht you can do everything with the phone – that means sparkle menus for some and no carrier restrictions or wallpaper or startups.

Audacity: very competent of cutting up songs, you can also do recordings with it http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Goldwave: my preference since it’s more straightfoward and you can change the acutal volume of the clip. http://www.goldwave.com/

Just use those two to cut the song to the appropriate size then transfer it to your phone via bluetooth, usb cable or memory card reader. Once you get it onto the phone, just navigate to it [from the standby > menu > settings > the 2nd tab from the left > ringtone and select] or from the my stuff you can use the right soft key and chose to set it as a ringtone

In which countries do Sony Ericsson first release its new phones ? Is it United States or Sweden(since that is everywhere Sony Ericsson came from)? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

It depends on what you’re talking about because there are different target markets for SE, if there is a phone that is designed for all nations or just one for specific areas. Generally the newer phones are unrestricted in the UK or in the Plates/HK/Taiwan area. After that the phones migrate over to the US. As a general case, the US is behind in phones by a long shot compared to the UK and Plates/HK/Taiwan.

But sometimes SE makes phones specific by region, like w810c [plates version of the w810i - international version] that doubtless won’t migrate over. Or like the k790a – the north american version of the k800i – international version or the k790c – plates version.
