how to take apart samsung crt monitor?

I’ll trying to take apart an ancient broken samsung crt monitor so I can mod the glass and case into an aquarium. I got the bottom clips off but something on the top of the monitor is keeping it closed, how to I open it?

Opening a crt is extremely perilous, they have very large capacitors that can hold a charge that can kill you.

Also crt tube can implode violently sending shards all over the house.

I would recommend getting help from a repairman/ repair shop

Make sure you PROPERLY use a grounding stick to discharge the 8000 volts in the capacitors.

I do not recommend opening CRT’s or any monitor, they have give of perilous components, some CRT’s are renowned to have capacitors that still hold a charge along with the tubes have very high voltage, and could be lethal. I know alot of experienced tech guys and that’s one of only things that scare them, opening CRT’s.
If you do go along with this I advise to unplug it and leave unplugged for at least 2-4weeks.

Is there a way to manipulate the vga cable of the crt monitor so that i can connect my tv cable

You need a tuner and a device to convert whatever video signal the tuner outputs to a RGBHV signal usable by the VGA input. It’s doable, I’ve done it, but most people don’t reckon it’s worth it.
