Acer laptops?

Acer laptops?

What do you reckon of Acer laptops? Are they any excellent?

Answer by Owen
I estimate this will answer it in one word: Cheap.

They are the cheapest laptops. And when it comes to computers, the more expensive, the better. If you pay for a cheap laptop, you are going to get a cheap laptop. I am not saying it wont work, but it wont last long.

Try something such as HP or Gateway or Toshiba. They are not the most expensive, but they are excellent quality.

I have the cheapest one they make I reckon and I am pretty pleased with it. I’d say go for it if you’re thinking about export one.

It’s all relative. Cheaper doesn’t always equal crap. If it can do everything you need it to, then its a excellent laptop. Currently hardware is hardware. The major difference you will see with the more standard brands, besides the price, is the service. I used to do PC repair work and I didn’t see any unusual things with Acer stuff.

acer laptop that won’t go to the desktop. It goes this blank screen!!!
I don’t have the recovery disk. I heard some laptops have a partition.

Answer by chris
New Acer laptops have a hidden recovery partition that can be activated by holding Alt+F10 as the laptop starts up. Give that a shot.

Answer by jascotty
if you computer has a recovery partition, look for something during boot that looks like ‘press ___ to recover’ or ‘… for boot options’

though, that restore partition will set the computer to how it was when you first got it, without the programs you installed plus all of the crapware they give you

you could try booting into safe mode, and going to a system restore point
(press F8 during boot, before the splash screen)

Acer ICONIA TFT
Unlike a lot of other unique proof-of-concept laptops, the Acer Iconia is fun to use and largely works as advertised. But it has a hard time answering the most frequent question we hear about it: why would anyone need a dual-touch-screen laptop?
