Who can help the Whirlpool refrigerator?

Who can help the Whirlpool refrigerator?

About 6 years ancient. Fan on high left rear makes pun noise sometimes. When I turn the temp. control down, the noise ceases. Freezer is not keeping bread, icecream, popsicles cold enough, sometimes. When this happens, the ice maker doesn’t produce ice any. Went away from wall and vacuumed front bottom grill. Also removed bottom rear grill and vacuumed inside and the grill.

Sounds like the evaporator fan motor is going terrible. They will usually make a squealing or growling noise before failing completely. This fan motor is responsible for circulating the cold air & if it quits running both the ref. & freezer compartments will not be cold enough.

It sounds like you should consult a repair man or throw up your arms and get a new one.

You may maybe replace the fan, its simple just two screws holding it in,but fan just probably needs lubricating, the real concern is turning the temp gage down ,stops the squealing ,that’s because when turned down , the fan is not running, and so the conundrum is probably the system is low on freon and needs charging,if it is the fan will run and struggle because it can’t reach the temp background when you turn it up.Fortunately disparate R22 you can buy freon for your fridge without a license, its R122(buy it at Johnstone supply or any appliance parts supplier in your town) and you can place it in yourself. You go to the builders supply ,like home depot or Lowe’s and you buy a tap for the line(copper tube on back of your fridge)and screw the tap into the line, and you glue the line on the can of freon and just place it in until the line on the fridge is cold,(place some in and wait, then add some more if needed).Take off the line from the can and your done. That should let your fan run only until it reaches much loved temp background and then the fan will shut off.

the suction of my ref door is not strong, it’s not very firm when I open then close the ref, is there any way I can fix this by for myself without calling repair?

Answer by John B
it has a magnet in the seal just clean the rubber seal with warm soap and water

Answer by KTB
Try this first. Clean the seals with vinegar and warm water. Then clean them with Windex, or similar product (including each door), and it will seal a bit better.

To replace the seals on a refrigerator is a simple matter. Most appliance supplies, and hardware supplies, carry replacement seals. Anyone can replace them. They are inexpensive as well. If at worst, you do not find the apt replacement seal, send away to the manufacturer or supply company for the new seals.

At the site listed above, all you have to do is type in your model number and you will find the seal you require.

You will find them at small cost. You will save money by having a unit that seals correctly. You have questioned a excellent question.

Answer by 4DAHUNT
KTB is assess. You can do this yourself. A temorary fix after you have completed KTB’s instructions is to place a thin layer of “Vasaline” around the seal. This a temporary fix not a repair. The seal over time will break down and or become stiff in speratic areas. The vasaline bridges the gaps formed by wear.
