What is the purpose of the DATA hard drive in Acer Laptops?
I bought an Acer Extensa mainframe and I noticed that it has an additional DATA D: drive… and it’s taking a lot of space. Should I get rid of it? If not why not?
Answer by Lab M
No keep it. if is for storing data. data is everything that is not programs. pictures, movies, music, docs.
The point of having the d drive is to separate your data form you operating system. the operating system can have troubles and have to be reloaded. when it is separate you do not baggy your data if your operating system is reloaded.
I do not reckon it is a recovery drive. but that reminds me. you should make recovery dvds for your computer. make them by going to start/ all programs/ acer folder and if should have a option to make restore dvds.
if that is not the above path try typing restore into the search bar. if should come up with the option for recovery management.

Ciao. I have a small acer mainframe.
Not the one they sett at ATT but at another store.
Anyways are these lap tops any excellent? How long do they last?
How do I get youtube to play without skipping on it?
How can I have internet when I go to ecuador on it?
Is it ok to download things or is it better not to in order to save memory?
Answer by Mike
Pretty stupid question. Just exactly how is anyone supposed to tell you how excellent something is with no thought what you are talking about? “Not the one they sell at ATT but at another store” tells us nothing. Model? OS? Spec’s? Persons are helpful pieces of information. If you “want only 100% assess answers” then you need to learn how to question an intelligent question.

do u mean the mini acer aspire one? i have one and its fantastic and it has 180 gb alot of storage you can have internet itunes and alot of songs and pictures works just like a normal mainframe but with a smaller screen

I have an Asus Netbook, which might be similar to the Acer ones.
They are pretty excellent. They run as well as a 5 year ancient desktop system. You might get 3 to 5 years out of them, more if you can replace the battery.
To play Youtube, choose 360i, and pause it to let the spill memory.
Don’t even try Vimeo.
To do internet in Ecuador, stick to internet Cafes and your hotel, or get a wireless USB modem compatible with a provider there, and get a tourist account with such a provider.
If you get one with a HDD, feel free to download things when you do have relatively cheap internet.
