I have a Whirlpool refrigerator that was in storage for about 6 months. The problem is that it wont turn on?
It worked fine before i put it in storage. It was never dropped or disturbed. Just to be clear, there is absolutely no power and the outlet works fine. Any suggestions? Is there a reset button?

I’ve found that storing anything can cause the kind of trouble you’re having. Maybe the things I’ve run into will help you. I have a shop and studio and lots of equipment that I maintain myself.
Several times I’ve had a wasp or other small nest making insect build a home in motors or points ect. You’re on the right track to look for a fuse but if you just reset without correcting the problem you could have the additional problem of a fire ( yep, it happened ). I would try to open the refer at the back and use compressed air to clean out the area around the motor and compressor. You can buy cans of compressed air at a hardware store if you don’t have a compressor or leave blower. After trying to find the obvious it’s time for a good appliance man.

Are you sure you set your control to a low enough temperature?
Answer by RefrigeratorPro.com
We at http://www.refrigeratorpro.com have heard that storing a refrigerator can really be bad for it as well. Definitely try out the compressed air but if you think there might be a nest of some kind in there then I would hire someone else to come and check it out. Either way you should probably get someone to come and take a look at it.

How do i fix it?
Answer by heartzablaze215
Check the tempurature setting perhaps. You didn’t mention how old the fridge is so if it’s older it may be time to get a new one.

If your refridge side setting is set to low that will do it. Also if the freezer setting is set to the highest # it will cause refridge section to get warm.
Other thing to look at is if you have a frost build up on back of the freezer wall? If so, then you either have a defrost problem or if your unit is a model “18′( in model # or is the cubic ft of unit) this model had bad compressor problems and just needs to be thrown out and buy a new Refridge.

The refrigerator might be having circulation issues. Check underneath your refrigerator and behind it. If you haven’t maintained the refrigerator, there might be years of dust and grime that might be preventing the refrigerator from cooling itself properly. Vacuum all that dust and grime out and see if the refrigerator comes back to normal. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

I Just had this same problem. A service person told me that is was the main circuit board in the back of the refridge, but it turned out to be just the door switch which keeps a flapper shut from the freezer. I discovered this by repeatedly pushing the switch with the door open and the light only went out half the time. Since replacing the switch, everything works fine.
