I have a whirlpool refrigerator that just quit getting cold. The light inside is on but it is not getting cold

It may have lost it’s coolant;-{ or the motor stopped up.

pull it out and take off the backing cover, vaccum off all the lint on the parts real excellent then it should start cooling off in a few hours. my frig just did the same business

Buy a another unit they are near impossible to repair and they don’t stay fixed.

Thermostat i would say has called it a day. You can try charitable it a few light taps, the thermostat is located on the inside of your fridge, also try adjusting the temp control up and down, this is on the outside of the thermostat. Excellent luck!!

If you dont hear it running, check for thermostat not turning unit on, defrost control stuck/stopped in defrost cycle, freezer fan not running, or compressor not running.

All four are common failings to a vortex

vortex refrigerator-model ED5NTQXKQ01 was not cooling/freezing so i unplugged the part that is connected to the compressor (the start device?) but im not sure how to disconnect the red and white wires in order to reconnect a new device, any help?

It sounds like you are trying to connect a hard start device, sometimes called a quick start. The wires are plugged into the compressor. Use needle nose pliers and pull on them at the connection point, they will come off. You will also have wires that will need to be spliced. The device will have instructions, read and follow them carefully. I have replaced many of them and they are not too hard. The finished product will look a lot different from the first. Make sure that you know where the wires are coming from. One wire is for the power, one for the restore, and the third wire runs the overload circuit.
