Why are T-Mobile phones so nasty?
When I was coming up for the Nokia N73, T-Mobile didn’t bother alternative it up. Then when I wanted to get the Sony Ericsson K800i, T-Mobile never bothered to pick it up any. Same business with the Nokia N82, Nokia N96, Sony Ericsson W890i etc. They are all GSM phones, but T-Mobile doesn’t bother.
Instead they sell you the nastiest Nokia phones they can find and even charge you minutes for additional nasty phones of theirs that have wifi. The worst business is that they have the nerve to sell phones that get terrible reviews (such as the Sidekick) for around $ 300. So what’s the point of even signing a contract? At that price you can just buy a better phone unlocked.
I heard that a lot of these phones have FCC approval. The Nokia N95 does. And if the companies were willing to hold them than minor changes would be made to the phones software etc. All these phones are already quadband phones anyway.

Hi Mayer
its not that T-Mobile doe not pick these phones up to offer in their lineup, in most of the cases its the manufacturers making the phones to meet the spec’s for the European and asian market. Most phones are never agreed to the FCC for north American approval
That life said, as you confirmed, why bother signing a contract? Most smart consumers would hold the GSM phone of there choice (as long as it is GSM850/1900) bring it to T-Mobile and signup for “flex pay” thats the contract plans without signing a contract. you can also do this for ATT who also offers the no contract option allowing you to pick whatever plot you want but since you have your own phone, no need to sign a contract
These are not the “pre” pay plans, they are the standard contract plans
ADDITIONAL
Yes, the N95 North American version does have FCC approval and can be bought non-centrally at or less then the same price as if the carriers did offer it on a 2 year contract. Again, you can hold ANY phone you like, bring it to T-Mobile or ATT, get the no contract option and avoid the hell of life locked up for 2 years. its the best of both worlds

offonatangent.blogspot.com/2008/06/nokia-phone-comparison…
omg i am sick and tired of looking at millions of sites and seeing lots of reviews for phones.it is so tiring and stress full.i pick a phone and say on cnet it will have a score of 7.9 and they will say that the camera isn’t really up to much but than you look on youtube or somewhere else and someone will say a completely different business.well best i come up with was the htc hero or the nokia n82 i know it’s ancient but apparently it has the best photo and record capabilities.don’t need business maybe a small web browsing but most of all it’s for music, camera and record.HELP

My best advice would be an iPhone 3GS. I just got mine last week and i absolutly like it!! The web browser is fantastic, apps are endless, and when you jailbreak it, you can get this program called installus which gets u all the apps in the app store for FREE. its a fantastic platform for a multitude of things. Definally worth checking it out. its fantastic with music, come on its a built in iPod, the camera is gorgeous, and since its a 16 or a 32 gig, depending on the model u get, u can place in a bunch of movies, oh and record vids if you want to. i highly recomend it!

I’ve got the Samsung Exclaim, and I’m super pleased with it. The sound quality is incredible, so music sounds awesome.
The camera is only 2 megapixels though, so it takes decent pictures but it’s not crystal sharp. This is my first phone with record so I don’t have it anything to compare it to, but before a live audience with it the sound quality is really excellent. Not normal camcorder perfect sound but its better then what I thought it would be.
The huge point of the this phone is the sliding QWERTY and the sliding number pad, they’re pretty nifty and the phone works efficiently with very very few sheathing times so if you’re quick and impatient like me, it works well XD
The only downside is its a Sprint exclusive though =X
