What is wrong with the usb ports on my Samsung monitor?

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 2243BWX monitor. Have not needed to use the 2 usb ports on the side of it. Now need to, and they don’t work. Plugged in a camera and and external drive, and it does not make either one available. Checked at Samsung site- not really useful. Much obliged for any info.

You did link the monitor up to a USB port on the system with a USB cable?

Unless your monitor is using a M1 cable you will need a separate USB cable to link the USB hub in the monitor to the system unit.

Do you have a USB cable from the computer to the monitor? You need one. What’s in the monitor is just a USB hub.

Because quality control is really really that costly.

First, becuase they get top pick of LCD screens, or more accurately, are willing to pay for them.
Same for most other componets.

They also hire better engineers.
