Q&A: How do I find out if a Sony Ericsson T226 is locked or unlocked?

Q&A: How do I find out if a Sony Ericsson T226 is locked or unlocked?

I found an ancient Sony Ericsson T226 cell phone in the supply closet where I work. It has a Cellular One SIM card in it and I reckon Cellular One is no longer in business. Can I get a new SIM card from another carrier and activate it? What carrier? And how do I find out if this phone is locked or unlocked?

Answer by Sony Ericsson
Turn the phone on and press Left navigation key ** Left navigation key and in the personalization menu you will see a small lock any opened or closed beside network. This will tell you if the phone is locked or unlocked.

To have it unlocked you need to get the NCK code from the carrier.

If u exchange over the sim, u r not supposed to place additional sim. So u can find that ur mobile got locked. I check over my mobile by this procedure only & i got the unlock code from http://www.unlocking4u.com/

What do you reckon? Answer below!

I am looking to upgrade my cell phone to a Sony Ericsson s500i. I have a plot through Cincinnati Bell, and they do carry this phone. I just need to know that if a phone is unlocked will it work with any provider? Cincinnati Bell is a smaller cell company, that’s why I’m concerned.
I do have a sim card with Cinci Bell…

Answer by zolek_online
it only work on carrier using sim card such as tmobile att

sprint absolutely not using sim

Cincinnati Bell is indeed a GSM company, though smaller… Yes it will work! I can’t guarantee strong signal but yes it will work.

Wow I’m impressed S500i for 130, and no contract! Jealous… It’s at least 200 the cheapest i can find @ supplies

Since you don’t have to make a commitment, maybe you can buy the phone and use their service for about a month or so, if it’s really weak then go on e-bay and unlock it. They have public that you give ur IMEI to and they find your unlock code. I’m not sure if CB locks their phones tho…

Unlocked GSM cell phone will work only with any GSM network provider.
