how do i watch video files on my nokia N85?

are there any free softwares that i can use to convert .avi record to a format that is supported by the nokia n85?

Yes, Koyotesoft’s Free Record Converter. It’s simply free and you have a lot of options there and you can use it for most record converting.

Your N85 supports MP4 and 3GP.

Try These Settings
Format: MP4
Bitrate: less than or equal to 700
Codec: MPEG

I know Nokia phone supports 3gp and mp4 record. If you don’t know how to convert avi record to nokia compatible record, I reckon this all-in-one record converter would help you, it’s simple to use and works pretty well for me.

I just got for myself a Nokia N85. When plugging it in to use the OVI suite (new phone suite) a bubble pops up on the pc saying that the phone is in “non-compatible” mode. and to go to the phone “UI” to chnage this. What and where (etc) can i find this?

The U.I Stands for “User Interface”, and that is the interface that you as the user would use to interact with the phone.

I reckon they have this so that you know to use the interface on the Handset and not the PC Software i.e Device administrator/desktop administrator software. to attempt to exchange the Compatibility mode.

My take is that there is a background in one of the menu’s that changes the compatibility of the phone to any a PC or another Mobile device. Try have a look through all the main menus, that deal with connectivity or media. as I judge the OVI suite deals with media and media files, and modem settings.
