Whirlpool Refrigerator Defrosting too long?

I have a freezer-on-top Vortex refrigerator model: ST21HPXLQ01. It had a cooling conundrum earlier which I fixed by changing the evaporator motor. During the day when the refrigerator/ freezer is used frequently (i.e. it is opened often), there is no conundrum with freezing or refrigeration. But, at night when it is not used as frequently, it tends to stay in defrost mode too long. The way I get it going again is any opening the fridge or turning the thermostat.

Any person have any thoughts how to fix this?

Try calling the manufacturer….

if you had this business under warranty, and if it Stihl is under warranty. you messed up huge time here. bye fixing the unit yourself it now voids the warranty. i would suggest calling the manufacturer, if its still under warranty, but if you mention too them that you went ion and tinkered around and or try ed fixing the unit they will void the warranty. your only recourse is any buy another unit, or try calling in another repair person. your stuck. lesson learned if you have a warranty don’t try fixing it yourself. huge mistake

My refrigerator worked fine when I cut offf all lthe current 30 dyas ago. I reconnected and the freezer works but the refrigerator part will not go below 58 degreees F. I reckon there is something simple to do – thanks for help.

may maybe be the switch to the frig or the thermostat, some models are simple.go on line to vortex and look up your model they might have distress shooting for your frig,or try Mr. Appliance.com, he has answers also.

Don’t be penny smart and ound foolish, call a professional.
It may maybe be a simple adjustment or you need freeon (gas).
