Post Firmware Update for Nokia N95 8Gb?

Hi,
The first firmware that came with was v15 then i updated it with v20 which makes use of auto rotate. But, the preloaded Spiderman 3 movie no longer works, says: No Initiation Key
What is this initiation key? Where to get it?

Answer by Lance R
You’d probably have to pay for it.

From “Device update FAQ”

Q: How I can be sure that all my Digital Right Management (DRM) protected content will work after updating my Nokia device firmware with Nokia Software Updater?

A: To ensure that DRM-protected content will work after the software update in the device, follow these recommendations.

* Use Nokia PC Suite to backup the device memory and use any Mass storage or Media player to transfer your content. There are two memory locations in the device, the internal memory and hard disk drive/memory card.
* You may also have to refresh the music library after starting the device.
* Note: Windows Media DRM protected content cannot be backed up and restored with this method but will have to be resynchronized with the PC to work again. Depending on the content subscription, additional rights may have to be retrieved from the content provider.

So, if you did not backup your data there’s nothing to be done now.

As for the Initiation Keys they are DRM keys that can be retrieved from a DRM ma?tre d’h?tel (like when you buy a game or some additional type of licensed content) and basically tell the phone whether you are entitled to use said content and under which terms.

In this particular case the key was delivered with the phone and there is no known ma?tre d’h?tel that can provide a new key for you.

Better forget about it and use the PC Suite and the auxiliary tools to convert your own DVDs and place them on the phone, if that is a legally valid option in your country.

plus a nice pleased theme

The Nokia N95 has the latest firmware, the mainframe is about 4-5 years ancient Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D 8200 running on the Ubuntu 6.06 version.

Assuming that Ubuntu can detect the Nokia N95 phone as a modem, I judge there are many excellent PPPoE dialers out there that will make things work for you – assuming that you also have valid Internet service through your phone’s provider.
