Found new hardware wizard not finding new hardware...looping?

Plug in printer samsung scx 4300 into acer aspire netbook, running win xp service pack 3. Every printer I have ever plugged in, same business. Wizard finds hardware, and names it, but when I search for it automatically, it just searches, and searches, and never finds files. If I go through installing manually, using downloaded drivers (netbooks = no cd rom), I always get a host of errors, “missing pclxl.dll” or ,” missing usbccgp.sys”, I was missing a different .dll, but found it online.
So, do I need to reinstall windows? Will that even help? It nearly seems like I am missing files from system32. Oh, I also tried ripping the installation cd, and ran it on comp, but it just says, “this windows version is not supported, this installation will be terminated”, which of course, makes NO sense, as I am running xp home version (I Reckon 32 bit, may be 64).

Please, any suggestions, I NEED THIS FOR WORK!
thank you in advance.
Forgot to mention,
printer does show up in device administrator, and says ”
This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1) To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.”
Of course if I “reinstall” drivers, it just takes me back into the loop of never really result the hardware.
so, if i do the sfc, I get;
“files that are required for windows to run properly must be copied to the dll cache.
insert your winxppro service pack 3 cd now.”

Conundrum with that is again, I have no cd. This comp has no cd drive. Windows is saved on the hd, and there is no option to browse. If I may maybe browse, I may maybe make a virtual cd-rom with the necessary files, but…..

now trying the ccleaner program, but doesn’t appear to be doing much but cleaning my comp up (which never hurts)
oh, and I am not sure which exe file I should try? I tried them all that were associated with the driver download, is that what you meant?

thanks youtwo

Try doing a SFC.
Go start, run, type sfc.exe /scannow, ok. It may question you to insert your OS CD.

So what’s the final choice, if the printer works, you wouldn’t reinstall windows?
Or do you plot on reinstalling.
One way for the printers in which I would go about is manually launching the .exe drivers. If that’s what you’re doing, I’d try to get your registry fixed (www.ccleaner.com), and then run the setup again.

As for reinstalling windows, I don’t know if it would help, but it’s weird your disc doesn’t recognize your OS. It might be due to the fact that you have upgraded it to “SP3,” which well, at the moment, to me, seems to be the only business making sense.

You really ought to provide a link with an image of the computer as well. You might have to replace the dots with (dot) in the URL. www(dot)somewebsite(doc)com.

I don’t like McAfee Anti Virus.

You might consider a wireless printer and scanner via blue tooth.

The 56K modem is unnecessary.

Here’s a looking at using AirPrint with a shared USB printer connected to a Mac. iOS 4.2 currently only support wireless printing and AirPrint via compatible stand-alone HP printers. Using Printopia or Fingerprint, Mac users can share any USB printer wirelessly with their iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. www.ecamm.com www.collobos.com
