Nokia Ovi map and Nokia Ovi suite Problem?
Hi I’m alex a fan of Nokia Mobile. I lived here in the Philippines and owned Nokia X6 32gb phone. I used ovi map because i’m jealous of its features that is really great. But my problem is: every time i used ovi map everything is fine except for the voice recognition. It doesn’t tell anything regarding to my destination, it does’nt tell if have to turn left or right but i’m very sure i already installed that voice recognition. In fact, i installed two voice recognition one for English (us) and one for English (UK). I used ovi map in offline mode, i mean not connected to the internet. Do i have to connect first the internet before the voice recognition activated?
Second, Can i install application to Ovi store via Nokia Ovi suite which my phone is connected to the internet? because installing applications using mobile internet is pretty costly.

Hello Felix. I’m from the Philippines too and uses X6.
The problem for voice recognition is that it isn’t readily available in the Philippines. Voice recognition highly depends on the GPS signal, and to be able to get clear GPS signal in the Philippines, you need to go to an open space away from concrete and reflecting structures and wait for not less than 5-6 minutes to get a considerable signal. Unlike in the US and UK, even indoors, they can receive GPS signals.
AFAIK, you cannot install apps through Ovi Suite. It’s Nokia PC Suite’s one of the best features that was left behind after it was upgraded to Ovi Suite. You really need to use the Internet to install them.
Or get apps from third-party sources like zedge. As you know, there are lots of great apps on Ovi that is region-locked, which means you cannot access or download them on Ovi because you are in the Philippines. There are lots of great apps on Ovi that is region-locked and you can get it on the Internet. Now, download Nokia PC Suite, just use Ovi Suite for updating maps, it’s totally worthless, PC Suite is still better because it allows you to install apps. Use PC Suite to install apps and voila.
Or try to apply to Globe’s Internet and make your home Wi-Fi enabled. Like ours.
